John Bernhard Thuersam is a native of the Niagara Falls area and author of “Key West’s Civil War: Rather Unsafe for a Southern Man to Live Here” (Shotwell Press) and “Plymouth’s Civil War; The Destruction of a North Carolina Town” (Scuppernong Press). Both can be found at Amazon & Barnes & Noble Books. The latter received the 2025 Douglas Southall Freeman History Award of the Military Order of the Stars & Bars (MOS&B).
